Two origins, one vision
Meet the Founders:
At the core of UJUAL is a story of cultural exchange, design dialogue, and mutual inspiration. UJUAL was co-founded by Khaled Abdo and Yabin Chen, two designers whose paths crossed between Switzerland and China—and who decided to build a brand that reflects both their backgrounds and their shared vision.
Switzerland to China, China to Switzerland
In an unusual mirror of each other, Khaled moved to Beijing to study Product Design at the renowned Central Academy of Fine Arts, while Yabin relocated to Geneva to study Fashion Design at HEAD — Haute école d'art et de design.
It was more than a change of scenery. Each of them immersed themselves in a new culture, gained a new language, and reshaped their approach to design. The East and the West weren’t in opposition anymore—they were two halves of the same conversation.
Two Schools, One Language: Design
Khaled's approach to design is deeply rooted in modularity, minimalism, and real-life problem solving. Yabin, on the other hand, brings a focus on form, balance, materiality, and emotion. Together, they created U Space — a product where aesthetics and utility don't compromise each other, but reinforce one another.
The HEAD Geneva and CAFA Beijing are not just institutions—they are design worlds of their own. One anchored in Swiss discipline and conceptual clarity. The other embedded in cultural richness and experimental narrative. This dual education is a part of every line stitched and every magnet placed.
